Treat the perforations
A 1.67-gallon staged treatment reduced injection approximately 96%.
Case study 051 · Marcellus Shale
Two leaking zones were sealed and mechanical integrity restored after a casing patch and resin squeeze did not stop pressure loss during completion operations.
The challenge
During post-fracture drillout on stage 56 of 57, well pressure rapidly decreased. Camera diagnostics identified a compromised casing patch.
The patch was removed and resin was squeezed into the perforations, but the well continued to leak. BioSqueeze was mobilized to treat both the leaking perforations and the casing breach.
The treatment
A 1.67-gallon staged treatment reduced injection approximately 96%.
The final perforation injection rate reached 0.001 gpm at 1,608 psi.
A 46-gallon treatment reduced injection approximately 90%.
The well held static for 10 hours without further pressure loss.
The result
The well was completed and placed on production.
The case shows how small-volume, defect-scale treatment can restore integrity without sacrificing the well after conventional repair attempts fall short.
